What a Difference a Day Makes!

July 3, 2018

It feels as if the last 3 month’s labour has been gearing up for today.  At 7:30 am this morning, the crane truck arrived with 2 guys and our next delivery from Pacific Homes, which included the first floor walls, beams and floor joists for the second floor.  I also see a set of inside stairs too.

Click here for a short video clip of the what happens when the walls arrive by crane  Crane Day 2

We had 4 friends show up and the fun began.  The crane operator (I didn’t get his name) and his helper were so helpful and got involved in the process, giving guidance and lending a hand.  By 1 pm all the outside and inside walls were braced and tacked into place and it looked like we were actually building a house and not a deck .   The crane truck left and by 5 pm (quitting time), pretty much all the levelling and adjustments were done and things were nailed securely into place.

Our home has first floor rooms!  So fun to walk around in it and imagine our future there.  We cannot imagine doing this without the generous love of our friends today.  We feel abundantly blessed!  Yesterday’s 26 km winds blew themselves out and we had a slight breeze (enough to keep the heat down) today when we put the walls up.  In a big wind, those walls would have been big sails because the framing included the sheeting and the insulation and you can’t see through them.  We are thankful for a safe day with great weather.  I heard comments, a number of times, about how smooth everything went and how well everything fit together because of the meticulous and exact effort on Ross’ part to prepare for today’s delivery.  Our 35 years of renovating experience is proving to be invaluable in helping us with this very large project.  The smile on Ross’ face at the end of the day says he is having fun!

I have to include some photos of our beautiful grandson since we took a quick trip to see him and Michael & Courtney for Roman’s first birthday.  We were able to help a little while we were there put a driveway in and put 30+ meals in the freezer (did I say that we are expecting grand baby #2 in December?) since Courtney has gone back to work for a few months. We also took a quick trip to Regina and Brandon to see some friends and meet some cousins that we hadn’t met yet.  Busy time!

What a day and how much was accomplished. I think there were a lot of prayers added to ours for that day. We are thankful for the helpful delivery crews and your friends who helped make it all possible and for Ross’ and your skills, sharpened over a lot of years’ experience.
Your pictures are terrific, as always

    Love from Dad and Mum
